Proud when they do a well, when they excel in something, when they do an unexpected kindness . . . but when they sacrifice their life to save the innocent, a parent is torn!
When Norman Franklin's son Adam was appointed to the United States Air Force Academy, he was happy.
When Adam graduated and began flight training, he was excited for his son.
But when Adam was in a real shooting war, flying the Air Force's most advanced fighter, Norman was very concerned for his son.
And when the knock on the door came, he felt as if his life was over.
To lose a son in war is a terrible pain for any father.
But to know that his son died intentionally, even saving innocent lives, was almost more than he could live with.
But, Norman Franklin was never more proud of Adam!
